MTS Blaze 5.0 launched in India for Rs 10999, comes with 100GB free data

SSTL has just launched the MTS Blaze 5.0 Android smartphone in India with a price of Rs 10999 and a generous 100,000MB of data, that’s over 97GB, attached to it. You can use the data through a period of 1 year and it gets activated as soon as you shell out Rs 198 for the first recharge of the MTS SIM card with which the phone arrives.

We’ll tell you right away that we’re not big fans of handsets that land with Jelly Bean out of the box when Android KitKat is perfectly happy to work on inexpensive devices also. And the MTS Blaze 5.0 is by no means a cheap phone considering its price of almost Rs 11000. Since this smartphone does not show off the Canvas moniker, we’re assuming Micromax has nothing to do with it.

MTS Blaze 5.0

The MTS Blaze 5.0 doesn’t seem to have anything special going for it at first glance, though it does own an 8MP camera and a Snapdragon processor to explain its cost. A display of 5 inches is spread across its front and above this is a 0.3MP webcam. We’ve listed its main specs below for your reading convenience.

MTS Blaze 5.0 main specs listed:

– Touchscreen of 5 inches
– Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS
– Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip
– 8MP main camera, 0.3MP front lens
– 32GB microSD card support
– 2500mAh battery
– Roughly 9.5 hours of talk time

Still marked with a ‘Coming Soon,’ the Blaze 5.0 is loaded with some apps specifically for the brand such as the MTS Playground music application, MTS Wizard for paying bills online and more as well as MTS TV for streaming TV shows right onto the phone.

This post has been updated to reflect that Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd (SSTL) which is a joint venture between Russia’s Sistema JSFC and the Shyam Group of India, have together launched the MTS Blaze 5.0 under their telecom brand.
