Facebook has eyes on lucrative Indian and Pakistani markets to increase revenues

Facebook is licking its lips and contemplating the lucrative potential of markets like India, Pakistan and even China in order to increase its revenue earned through ads. That’s what some new data which compares an estimate of how many people its Advertising Platform can reach and the population of various countries says.

According to iStrategyLabs, Facebook penetration in India stands at 8.2 percent, that’s almost 102 million people. The population of the country is 1.1 billion and counting. This leaves plenty of room for the social network to step into. Similar cases for massive growth of the website are offered by China where it is banned, and Pakistan too.

Facebook Global Users

According to a November 2013 report, internet users in India will hit 243 million in 2014. Access to the web is a significant factor when its comes to measuring the growth potential of a service such as Facebook. This is obviously good enough reason for founder, Mark Zuckerberg, to invest in Internet.org since developing areas are said to love social networking sites.

The countries with the lowest percentage of Facebook members cover Sudan, China and North Korea, with the last mentioned apparently housing just 8000 users in all. Argentina and Malaysia manifest more than 50 percent penetration even though they are not English speaking nations. The US, the UK and Canada boast of having 56 percent of their population on the social network.

This iStrategyLabs analysis on Facebook’s opportunity for massive growth in the Indian and Pakistani markets can be found here. It takes into account 50 of the most populous nations across the globe, but does not vouch for fake profiles having been filtered out of the results.
