Delhi Police One Touch Away app launched for trials

A new app called Delhi Police One Touch Away has been launched by the law enforcement agency and serves as a common platform for all the various sites and applications they had rolled out earlier. It’s currently working on a trial basis and is only available for Android users.

The idea behind the tool is simple. Many people are not aware of the various services the department provides and the Delhi Police One Touch Away app provides a unified space to access them all. It contains links to all police websites along with the Lost Report, Traffic and Himmat applications.

It further includes the names, numbers and email ids of police officials dealing with the public. Also on board are notifications related to traffic alerts, images of wanted criminals or terrorists, missing persons, and safety advisories. The announcements will either be broadcast to everyone or to preset groups consisting of the populace or police.

They’ll be able to share information in the form of documents, pictures, audio, video and text. Users can view a variety of laws and acts relevant to the police such as the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Criminal Procedure Code, and Motor Vehicle Act. Helpline and control room numbers are present as well.

According to the statement made by the Delhi police, the new application has been conceived as a way to reduce public dissatisfaction with the authorities. It does this by making it easier for citizens to report offences directly through their smartphones. All pictures or videos taken through the app will be imprinted with the date and location of where it was taken.
