A new Videocon A27 handset has popped up on the web, attached to a price of Rs. 6,000 and all. While the tag has not been given a mention on online retailer Flipkart’s portal, the manufacturer has offered the word on this.
The company is known for launching budget devices and the A27 release clearly does not stray from this path. But it doesn’t mean potential users should expect only low end features from the phone. First off, it’s an Android handset running version 4.0 of the Google mobile OS. And it’s dual SIM all the way, just like the horde of wallet-friendly devices the Indian market has been seeing an influx of over the past few months.
A capacitive touch display of 4 inches and WVGA resolution is nailed across the front panel of the handset. A combination of a 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM and a 1500mAh battery power up all of its operations. On the connectivity angle, users get 3.75G HSPA, Bluetooth, GPS and the ability to hook up to Wi-Fi hotspots. The battery we’ve already mentioned above can offer the juice for roughly 4 hours of talk time over a 2G network.
For entertainment needs, there’s FM radio and a 3.5mm audio jack. Those who find the internal space of 4GB falling short of their hoarding needs can always opt to slide in a memory card of up to 32GB capacity. Then there are apps such as Facebook, Fun Zone, TOI, ET, Saavn and Movie studio pre-loaded onto the device. Users who don’t go by pixels or are simply resigned to the fact that a mid-range phone can hardly come with an impressive camera, should be satisfied with the 3MP rear lens and VGA front sensor.
Those who are eager to get hold of the Videocon A27 may have to wait a bit since Flipkart has a ‘Coming soon’ on the product page and presently seems to be the only online seller who’s geared up to stock these units.
