Three new ROKR phones unveiled by Motorola

Motorola EM30, EM28 and EM25 Phones

Three new GSM handsets in the ROKR range have been unveiled by Motorola on the 5th of this month. The EM30, EM28 and EM25 are the new members of the music-centric Motorola ROKR line-up.

The most advanced of the lot, EM30 is the follow-up to the hugely successful ROKR E8 with a more convenient keypad and better LCD display. This device can alternate between a phone and a music player and just one touch is enough to alternate between modes. When the device is in music mode, the red keys are illuminated while the blue keys light up when it is in phone mode, thanks to Motorola’s unique ModeShift technology. The Radio Data System (RDS) technology identifies songs and artists playing on the FM radio while high-speed USB 2.0 technology allows faster song transfers. Other features include built-in speakers, 8 GB microSD card, a 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, landscape display for a superior web-browsing experience and a 2 MP camera with 8x digital zoom. This model uses a Linux operating system and is supposed to release in Taiwan first.

The E28 is a basic clamshell with a 1.3 MP camera, Bluetooth and expandable memory. Other musically inclined features include 11 equalizer presets and 3D sound effects. The phone shows the name of the song being played on the front display. The insubstantial memory capacity of just 2GB is quite disappointing, especially since this is a music phone.

The E25 allows users to share their favourite radio stations with friends via a simple text message through the “FMShare” function. Apart from FM radio, the phone comes equipped with a convenient music key, SONGID technology, 1.3 MP camera and 3.5 mm headphone jack. Both these phones should be available globally in this quarter.
