Owners of T-Mobile G2x also known as LG Optimus 2x or those who are planning to buy it have some ecstatic news in store for them. According to a Twitter post, T-Mobile is planning to roll out the official Android 2.3 update for its G2x smartphone very soon.

The T-Mobile G2x smartphone is currently powered by the Google’s Android 2.2 OS and runs on the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz. It jackets rear facing 8MP as well as front-facing 1.3MP cameras for photography enthusiasts to capture and share those candid moments.

The device boasts of a 4” touchscreen display for delivering better multimedia viewing experience. The recent announcement by T-Mobile via Twitter comes days after the G2x hits the store shelves in the U.S. However, this update to Gingerbread will not address the recent speculated issues like random reboots or LCD screen bleeding.

There is no official word on when or how the imminent Gingerbread update will be made available to the existing T-Mobile G2x owners just yet.
