Sony Xperia L price in India pegged below Rs. 20K, release date is May 8

Here’s another Sony device tagged at the same point as the Cybershot WX300 – the Xperia L price in India is also nailed at Rs. 19,990. This information comes from online retailer Infibeam which says that the smartphone can be picked up at a discount of Rs. 1,000, bringing down the rate to Rs. 18,990.

Well, online sellers in the country have been leaving little to surprise of late. The release date of the Sony Xperia L is touted as May 8 through Infibeam, meaning that we could expect the Japanese manufacturer to come out with an official announcement about the launch by next week itself. It’s probably good timing on the part of the company since the closest competitor of the phone was already made available in the market late last month.

Sony Xperia L

Unveiled back in March, the Xperia L is an Android Jelly Bean gadget sporting a 4.3-inch touchscreen across its front. The scratch-resistant display renders visuals in a resolution of 480 x 854p and supports up to 4-finger multi-touch gestures. A dual core 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8230 chip with Adreno 305 graphics drives the various chores users choose to put the smartphone through.

1GB of RAM helps the device along and the internal memory reads at 8GB. But no need to worry too much about space constraints if a 32GB microSD card is enough for added hoarding needs. There’s an 8MP lens on the back panel for clicking pictures and shooting clips at resolutions of up to 720p HD. A front-facing one of the VGA sort is also present for video calling needs.

So how do all of these specs compare to those of the Lumia 720? Well, the Nokia phone’s got a 4.3-inch touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Carl Zeiss optics power the 6.1MP main camera sitting on the rear and a 1GHz dual core Qualcomm processor supplies the steam. Windows Phone 8, 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard memory and up to 64GB expandability are also mentioned among the features.

For a similar price as the one carried by the Lumia 720, buyers in India can show Android Jelly Bean some love with the Sony Xperia L. It’ll be interesting to watch the two wrestle it out in the market. The latter can currently be pre-ordered through Infibeam.
