Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro drops anchor in India

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Grand Quattro in India, probably to take on rivals such as Micromax Canvas HD, Doodle A111 and Xolo Q700 which carry fairly reasonable price tags. The device comes across as a revamped version of the South Korean manufacturer’s previously-introduced smartphone with a similar moniker.

As the name suggests, the Quattro is fueled by a quad core processor that ticks at a speed of 1.2GHz. Prospective users can expect it to gorge on the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS, but the OEM hasn’t mentioned anything about an OTA update for the latest version of the platform. Featuring enhanced multitasking properties, the device also extends support to two SIM cards at the same time.

The handset with dimensions of 133.30 x 70.70 x 9.65 millimeters, tips the scales at 143.9 grams. It accommodates a TFT multi-touch display measuring about 4.7 inches on the front panel to deliver enhanced visuals in 480 x 800p (WVGA) resolution. A VGA camera with a CMOS sensor and a video recorder accompanies the screen for facilitating face-to-face conferencing over the web.

This smartphone is also accessorized with a 5MP rear-facing camera loaded with a CMOS sensor, LED flash, auto focus and of course, the ability to shoot movies. Complete with geo-magnetic, light and proximity sensors, it arrives with wireless communication options like Bluetooth for pairing it up with compatible mobile gadgets and Wi-Fi for ensuring internet access through a hotspot.

And if that’s not enough, the Google-certified phone runs on both 2G and 3G mobile networks. Users can insert a microSD card of up to 32GB in the dedicated expansion bay for additional storage and tether audio gadgets to it via a 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, the GPS-enabled handset draws power from a 2000mAh battery that claims to cough up the juice for talk time of close to 11 hours and standby time of approximately 210 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro price in India is set at Rs. 18,260 and is now up for grabs through the company’s eStore.
