Panasonic Toughbook C2 release date set for December

By announcing the release date details of the Panasonic Toughbook C2, the company has introduced another member to its long-standing range of hardy devices. This semi-rugged tablet PC will be available in stores by the end of this year, decked up in a magnesium alloy casing that can withstand a 30-inch drop to six sides.

Moreover, it can even survive falls from up to 12 inches from 26 angles. The Toughbook C2 weighs not more than 3.99 pounds, and carries with it a spill-resistant keyboard that tips the scales at 6 ounces. Plus, it features a 12.5-inch 5-point multi-touch IPS display that’s layered with an anti-glare/anti-reflective coating for daylight reading. So how exactly does this convertible work? Well, all users need to do is rotate the upper panel by 180 degrees in order to switch between the tablet and keyboard modes.

A 720p webcam is fixed above the device’s screen, and helps conducting video conferences while on the move with the help of a built-in microphone. That’s not all; users can opt for an optional 3MP rear-facing snapper as well. This Windows 8 slate is capable of delivering up to 11 hours of run time on a single charge, which may vary depending upon the usage conditions. Plus, customers can purchase a bridge battery as a backup for lengthy outings.

The price for the Panasonic Toughbook C2 starts at $2949, and it will be made available for purchase through the company’s authorized resellers from December onwards.
