Orkut released for Google Android

Orkut

Social networking butterflies may be seen stuck like a barnacle on hearing this piece of news! According to the Official Google Mobile Blog, Orkut is now ready to hit Android mobile devices.

With Orkut for Android, users can stay connected to their Orkut friends wherever they go – via scrap notifications, direct photo uploads to their orkut albums, and a phonebook synched to their orkut friends’ phone numbers and status messages.

Socially active users can now simply add the list of their orkut friends as a live folder on the homescreen and browse through their friends list even when not under data network coverage. Pretty interestingly, the live folder allows one to communicate with friends in a single click.

In addition, Android users can simply upload photos from their Android Photo Gallery. Users will also get notifications on their Android device when they have new scraps on Orkut. The notifications will appear on users’ Android phone notification bar, clicking on notifications will take them to their scrapbook page.

Android users can now download the Orkut Application from the Android Market.
