3D Ovi Maps

Navigation maps are indubitably one’s highly trusted companion when steering through foreign roads. According to the Nokia Conversations blog, the company has announced that its Ovi Maps will now feature 3D maps of various cities around the world.

Users simply need to activate 3D view option included in Ovi Maps, to view all the maps in 3D. The 3D models of a wide variety of cities across different countries efficiently augment Nokia’s map service and enable users to explore new locations.

Nokia has teamed up with C3, a provider of 3D mapping solutions to supply 3D photo realistic models of numerous metropolitan cities. This C3 solution employs advance camera equipment to capture any particular image from approximately 100 different angles. Image processing software is used to apply realistic texture to the shapes of various objects. This results in the creation of huge 3D canvas sporting more realistic appearance.

Currently, the Ovi Maps provide users with 3D models of various cities including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, Toronto Madrid, Prague and more.
