Mega iOS app is out, you get 50GB storage for free

It’s been 5 months since Mega hit Android along with the promise of an iOS app in the future. For those of you who’ve been thinking the tool’s been long overdue, it’s finally hit Apple iTunes. The application is downloadable for free and it even offers users a massive 50GB of storage space just like that.

What is Mega?

Mega is a cloud storage service like Google Drive, Dropbox or SkyDrive. It basically lets users upload content online. This can be anything from songs to movies to work projects and more. Once you touch 50GB and wish for more locker room, it will cost $10.99 monthly or $99.99 per year for 500GB of storage space as well as 1000GB of bandwidth each month.

Terms of Service:

‘You may not upload, download, store, share, display, stream, distribute, e-mail, link to, transmit or otherwise make available any files, data, or content that infringes any copyright or other proprietary rights of any person or entity.’

Out of all T&C listed by the company, the aforementioned is probably one of the most important ones. The reason? Founder Kim Dotcom, is largely known owing to Megaupload, a website which was taken down because people involved was allegedly found sharing and downloading pirated movies, music and so on. It will clearly not do let people associate it with file-sharing of copyrighted content.

The Mega app for iOS is a 3.5MB download. It is compatible with any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 6 and later versions of the OS.
