LG introduces new QHD display that will be used on its G4 flagship

The LG G4 smartphone is scheduled to go official at the end of the month and sticking to tradition, the company has started teasing the main highlights of the upcoming flagship. The OEM’s Display subsidy has revealed a new QHD LCD panel for smartphones and says that it ‘represents a quantum jump’ where key features are concerned.

The official presser clearly states that the new display technology will be first seen in the upcoming flagship later this month. It also confirms that the G4 smartphone will have a 5.5-inch panel like its predecessor, but of course, the display will be much better. LG has revealed that the latest screen can deliver more accurate and richer colors with a gamut of 120%.

It will sport the standard QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and LG has adopted what it calls the AIT (advance in-cell touch) technology which offers better sensitivity where touches can be recognized even when the screen has water drops on it. In this implementation, the need for a separate touch panel is eliminated as the sensor is embedded into the LCD itself.

Both brightness and contrast have been increase by 50% and 30%, respectively, without sacrificing any more power and the photo-alignment technology has also found a place in this LG display.
