Intel, Nokia and the University of Oulu have now teamed up to push the enthusiasm of mobile enthusiasts further. The trio reveals the launch of the Nokia Joint Innovation Center for mobile devices. With this merger, the companies are expected to bring in 3D Holographic mobile technology and several other new features into the industry.

In the initial stages of research, the companies are planning to discover new and unique technologies that will ease as well as amplify the mobile using experience. With the increasing capabilities of mobile devices, they are also expected to create natural and instinctive 3D graphics interfaces that match up with communications in the real world such as modern games and movies. Besides, the new lab will also support the MeeGo open source platform. This service will enable developers to create new 3D technologies with much more ease alongside lab’s ongoing research.

Justin Rattner, Intel chief technology officer and director of Intel Labs, commented, “The University of Oulu’s focus on future telecommunications solutions as well as electronics and photonics made it the perfect location for the Intel and Nokia Joint Innovation Center.”

“3-D technology could change the way we use our mobile devices and make our experiences with them much more immersive. Our new joint laboratory with Intel draws on the Oulu research community’s 3-D interface expertise, and over time will lay down some important foundations for future mobile experiences,” stated Rich Green, Senior vice president and chief technical officer, Nokia.

Furthermore the companies are also formulating on bringing up new science fiction movies like services that will enable users to view a 3D hologram of the person talking on the other side. Through these innovations, users can look forward to being more engrossed on their mobile devices than ever before.
