Google to offer Android 2.3.3 update for Nexus One and Nexus S

Nexus Gingerbread v2.3.3 Update

We had previously reported that the Nexus One would be receiving an over the air Android v2.2.2 update instead of the much speculated Gingerbread upgrade. According to an official Google Nexus post on Twitter, Google is rolling out Android v2.3.3 for both the Nexus One and Nexus S smartphones through the coming weeks.

Originally, Google’s Nexus One was shipped with Android v2.1 OS or Eclair along with its 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon chipset. It was later upgraded to accommodate the Android 2.2 OS or Froyo. The Google Nexus S was powered by Android v2.3 or Gingerbread when it was released in the markets the world over. With this new development, both these phones will now run on the latest Android 2.3.3 version which still entitled Gingerbread.

This upgraded version is said to offer better NFC capabilities as compared to the earlier Android platform versions. Details regarding what the update will be able to present Nexus S and Nexus One owners with are scant as of now. However, users may have to wait for few weeks before the update is rolled out completely.
