Galileo for iPhone gives a better panoramic view

Currently in the concept phase, the Galileo pan-tilt accessory for iPhone should make it much easier for users to have video conversations or record live footage by remotely controlling the device’s orientation. Operating on iOS, the sleek-looking peripheral is said to conveniently accommodate Apple’s smartphone or the iPod touch.

Developed by the designers behind Gorillapod, Galileo is capable of delivering 360° pan and tilt at speeds of up to 200° per second, in any orientation. For full-fledged two-way use, it will need to be accompanied by an iOS-powered device like the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. One of the highlighted features this peripheral has to offer is that users can utilize the 9.7-inch screen on Apple’s tablet as a controller for remotely rotating or tilting the docked device.

“My motivation originally was to make it easier for me to have video chats with my son when I was away on business,” commented Motrr designer Josh Guyot. “The lack of control and visibility when you are talking to someone far away makes you feel even farther away and was just so frustrating; Galileo solves that problem.”

In addition to the gadget, Mottr plans to release the SDK for Galileo as well. This should enable developers to design relevant applications or integrate the concept with existing software options. Users can also construct apps to combine the accessory with other hardware.
