Sharing multimedia wirelessly across various platforms has always been a limited affair for AirSync app users. doubleTwist has sought to extend its capability by recently announcing an update dubbed AirTwist for the AirSync Android app. This update enables users to stream their music, photos and videos to any TV screen connected to a PS3 or Xbox gaming system.

doubleTwist boasts of offering a wide media platform which comprises of innumerable native apps running on Android, Windows and Mac platforms. These apps allow users to send and exchange multimedia content like music, images and videos using handsets, PCs and tablets. In addition, it supports subscriptions to podcasts and access to online radio.

“With more than 100 million game consoles in households today, and more than 300,000 Android devices activated daily, there is a real need for users to easily and reliably enjoy their media across all their connected devices,” expressed Jon Lech Johansen, co-founder of doubleTwist. “doubleTwist provides an amazingly seamless media experience on Android and with the addition of AirTwist, doubleTwist is enabling users to unlock the power of their living room devices.”

The company’s doubleTwist AirSync Android app specifically aids in wirelessly synchronizing media between Android phones and the doubleTwist desktop application. This upgrade to the app lets users play videos, tracks and pictures on TVs via the Xbox and PS3. The AirTwist option in the doubleTwist app needs to be activated in order to enjoy content from an Android device on large TV screens using any of these two gaming consoles.

The free update is up for downloading through the Android Market for all doubleTwist AirSync users having phones running on Android 1.6 and later versions. The Verizon and Amazon app stores will also make it available soon.
