CoPilot Live Satellite Navigation comes to iPhone

Copilot iPhone App

Just a few weeks back, Navigon AG had come up with GPS Navigation for North America and now ALK Technologies is introducing the CoPilot Live Satellite Navigation system for the customers in the UK.

The navigation system operates in both portrait and landscape display modes. It offers turn-by-turn navigation to iPhones along with automatic route calculation, clear 3D map displays and comprehensible turn-by-turn voice directions.

Michael Kornhauser, Vice President and Managing Director of ALK Technologies’ CoPilot Division stated, “We are delighted to bring CoPilot Live’s full featured navigation experience to iPhone users via the App Store. With advanced features, fluid finger touch interface and useful Live services, CoPilot Live is the premium navigation app that the iPhone deserves.”

The CoPilot Live simplifies the process of navigation. Users just need to key-in a house number, street or full UK postcode. The system instantly finds out the finest route to reach there. Detailed street maps are also embedded on the phone.

The navigation system features premium functionalities which were previously seen only in the most expensive standalone or in-car systems like lane assistance, realistic signpost displays and speed limit alerts. The CoPilot ClearTurn feature brings a pragmatic display of junctions, simplifying complex motorway and major road exits.

The system also provides real-time information to the driver by employing iPhone’s mobile Internet connection. It provides users with a five day weather forecast. Besides this, it incorporates a location-sharing feature known as the CoPilot LiveLink that facilitates users to check the location of friends on-screen or online. The company also aims to add real-time traffic information by the end of this year as an optional service.

CoPilot Live is now available at iTunes and the iPhone App Store in UK and will be soon offered in USA and several European countries. The UK/Ireland maps are retailed for £25.99 while users need to shell out £59.99 for the European maps.
