Residents of the UK on the lookout for a new tablet could check out the ZTE Light Tab II which was recently launched in the country. This V9A slate comes equipped with a 7-inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen display and runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile platform.

The first tablet from ZTE’s stable to be made available in the UK, it operates on the Qualcomm MSM8255 processor. Users can carry around this portable slate with ease owing to its lightweight form factor that tips the scale at 402g. Its pre-loaded entertainment options include YouTube and Google Talk amongst others.

“ZTE V9A is ZTE’s first own-branded tablet made available in the UK and we are very excited about its entry into the market. We plan to continue our progress in the UK, introducing ZTE branded consumer devices with key capabilities at reasonable prices. Our UK strategy is very much focused on providing quality devices – a factor which is apparent through our growth and development in the handset arena,” quipped Wu Sa, Director, Mobile Device Operations, ZTE.

Capable of lending support to GSM, UMTS and HSPA networks, the ZTE mobile device packs in 4GB of internal memory which can be expanded through the microSD card slot. It boasts of a 3MP rear facing snapper and a 0.3MP secondary camera. Additionally, the Light Tab II offers 5.5 hours of battery life and comes integrated with FM radio.

The ZTE Light Tab II price reads £234.99 and it will start shipping later this month or by the first week of March, at least.
