YotaPhone featuring dual screens has been launched in Russia, Europe

The YotaPhone that can play the role of an eReader, has been launched in Russia and some of the countries in Europe. As of now, customers in nations like Austria, France, Germany and Spain, apart from Russia, can place their orders through the official website. Those living in countries like the UK, Greece, Cyprus and Czech Republic will get to purchase the gadget in January. Some other areas of Europe can look forward to the device, slated to arrive in the first quarter of 2014.

That was about the availability of the unusual device and here we take a look at its specifications. The key highlight of the device is its set of two displays. The front side is a regular LCD capacitive screen of 720p resolution, while the rear one is an EPD panel that is usually seen in eReaders. The latter is actually an always-on display that doesn’t hurt the phone’s battery life. Both of these touchscreens measure 4.3 inches diagonally.

As it makes the most of the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS, you can expect an intuitive interface and Google Play access and a dual core processor ticking at 1.7GHz makes it capable of multitasking. A 13MP camera and a 1MP webcam are dragged along, in addition to 2GB of RAM, 32GB onboard memory and a 1800mAh battery.

The YotaPhone costs 19,980 rubles in Russia and €499 in Europe. We have no idea as to when the gadget will come to the US, or for that matter India. So far nothing has been mentioned about its plans to go globe-trotting.
