Xiaomi sells 50000 Redmi 1S units in 11 short seconds in latest flash sale

50000 units of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S were gone in 11 seconds and impressive as this looks, it’s one of the slowest sales we’ve seen so far. Usually, smartphones from the Chinese OEM fly off shelves in a blink of an eye, the fastest being just over 2 seconds.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S has been available at Rs 5999 for quite a few months now and it was supposed to get discontinued when the Redmi Note showed up. However, it looks like the company is altering its strategy and will continue to offer the super affordable handset as the next flash sale is scheduled to commence on January 20 at 5pm and registrations have already commenced.

The phone will most likely be on the market till its successor arrives, which is a small upgrade with mainly a better processor. Additionally, the Rs 9999 Redmi Note 4G was also up for grabs yesterday and it fared worse compared to its previous two flash sales. It took nearly 3 minutes for the company to clear out 50000 units of the phone, while the earlier inventories disappeared in just several seconds.

This in no way means that Xiaomi’s sales are slowing down, but the company is facing a lot of competition, especially from the Yu Yureka smartphone which comes via Micromax loaded with the Cyanogen 11 OS. Additionally, the company is expected to launch a new flagship tomorrow along with the second generation Redmi Note.
