Xiaomi Redmi Pro, Mi Notebook Air officially launched

The Xiaomi Redmi Pro and Mi Notebook Air have officially been launched after months of leaks and rumors. Both are significant firsts for the company. The former is its first dual-camera and deca-core processor phone, while the latter is its maiden venture into the world of laptops.

Kicking things off with the Xiaomi Redmi Pro, the smartphone’s headline-grabbing feature is its dual-camera setup on its back. The module consists of a 13MP Sony IMX 258 sensor and 5MP Samsung snapper which together apparently produce DSLR-quality bokeh and offer a dynamic depth of field.

Another major talking point is the Xiaomi phone’s deca-core SoC, a rare feature among budget phones. The smartphone is being sold in 3 different configurations. One sports a Helio X20 chipset, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM for CNY 1499 (approx Rs 15100).

The other packs a Helio X25 SoC, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM at CNY 1699 (roughly 17100). Finally, the most expensive of the lot houses a Helio X25 CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM for CNY 1999 (about Rs 20200).

Moving on to the Mi Notebook Air, the laptop will be available in 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch sizes. The company is trying to pitch it as a serious rival to the MacBook Air, claiming that the offering is lighter and thinner than the Apple product.

The new device certainly looks similar to the MacBook Air and could appeal to people who seek a cheaper alternative to the Apple notebook. The 12.5-inch model is priced at CNY 3499 (around Rs 35300) and sports specs like a 1080p display, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of SSD memory, and an Intel Core m3 processor.

The 13.3-inch Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air retails for CNY 4999 (roughly Rs 51400) and houses a 6th-gen Intel Core i5 CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage. We’ll let you know the moment the laptop and Redmi Pro hit Indian shores.
