Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphone for Rs 6999 can beat the Moto E in India

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is all set to try and beat the Moto E in India, and the Chinese company has arranged a press event for August 26 to kick off things. Xiaomi has started sending out invites for the event, long after it was announced in July. But we’re still not hearing word on the launch of the Redmi Note device.

There are no mysteries to solve when it comes to the said press event since Xiaomi has clearly mentioned that its Global VP Hugo Barra and Redmi 1S will be present there. We also know about the price of the smartphone since it has been revealed in the past. Just in case you missed our older story on it, the rate is pegged at Rs 6999.

If the Redmi 1S phone follows the same release pattern as the Mi 3, then it may reach shelves within one week of its unveiling. So we expect to see it hit availability status by September 2 at least. The Moto E handset took off very nicely at a similar price point as this smartphone, so unless Flipkart and Xiaomi make a mess of things again, it may be greeted enthusiastically.
