Xiaomi Mi A1 now Rs 1000 cheaper

The Xiaomi Mi A1 has gotten its first permanent cut after getting a temporary one last week on Flipkart. The handset is now officially Rs 1000 cheaper, making it available at Rs 13999.

The discount comes just a couple of months after the Mi A1 made its India debut. Xiaomi hasn’t given a reason for this early markdown, but it could have something to do with making it more competitive against rivals like the Nokia 6 and Moto G5S Plus which are priced similarly at Rs 14999 and Rs 15999, respectively.

The one thing which the Mi A1 has that the others don’t is its Android One branding. The phone runs on a pure version of Android 7.1.2 Nougat and is guaranteed updates to Android Oreo and P. To be fair, even the Nokia 6 is offering the same. However, it doesn’t have dual cameras like the Xiaomi smartphone.

The Mi A1 is still being sold via Flipkart and the brand’s site. Neither portal has the rose gold color in stock, so people might have to wait a while for that. If they can’t, they can choose between gold and black shade options.
