The Xiaomi Mi 5 is all set to go on its next flash sale on April 13 and will be accompanied by the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank and Redmi Note 3. The first two notably made their debut on April 6 during the Mi Fan Festival.
The Mi Fan Festival appears to have been a great success for the China-based brand. It apparently sold over 100000 units of handsets and accessories during the one-day event, its highest ever since the platform’s launch back in July last year. The company’s India head Manu Jain claims nearly a third of the products sold were phones, though he failed to mention just how many of them were the Xiaomi Mi 5.
Xiaomi’s Indian website saw about 1.2 million visitors on April 6. It did pretty well internationally as well, clocking in 46.83 million unique visits to its app and site during its 7-day spanning Mi Festival. The manufacturer further sold $289 million worth of goods through the occasion.

Xiaomi has been stepping up its India presence of late, focusing its efforts on building up its brand in the nation. To that end, it’s decided to invest $25 million into local streaming service Hungama. The deal will see the latter’s content making an appearance within the handset maker’s ecosystem.

The investment makes sense given the increasing sameness between Android phones in India. Providing easy and convenient access to music, movies and TV shows may help Xiaomi compete better with rivals like LeEco which offer its own content-based platform.
