Xiaomi Mi 5 expected to be launched on 16 July event

The Xiaomi Mi 5 might just be unveiled on July 16, according to a teaser by the company which hints at an upcoming event next week. This is not the first time we’re hearing about the much-anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone from the Chinese brand which features among the top 5 mobile device manufacturers in the world.

Apart from the Xiaomi Mi 5, a Mi 5 Plus version was expected to be unveiled along with it earlier. But the latter is supposed to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip which won’t be out until later this year. Its rumored specs include a 5.7-inch touchscreen of Quad HD 2560 x 1440p resolution. It could also arrive with 4GB of RAM, a 12MP front-facing lens and a 23MP main camera with optical image stabilization.

As for the Mi 5, TechnoBuffalo stumbled upon a post on Weibo credited to Xiaomi itself, that appears to tease the launch of the phone on July 16. Apparently, it will carry a price tag of almost 2399 yuan or Rs 25000. It might have a metallic frame and flaunt a Gorilla Glass 2.5D-protected Quad HD display measuring 5.2 inches. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 may show up inside it along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 64GB of ROM. The handset could run on Android Lollipop mated with the MIUI software.
