Xiaomi Launches ‘Mi Store on Wheels’ In India For More Penetration In Remote Areas

Mi Store On Wheels

Xiaomi has launched what it calls the ‘Mi Store on Wheels’ in India, which is exactly what it sounds like – a mini truck that will sell its products on the streets. The project, which was completed in 40 days, has been aimed at having a better reach with customers in villages and non-metro cities. Apart from the company’s smartphones, these mobile vans will also sell Mi Smart TVs, the Mi Box 4K, Mi CCTV cameras, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 and other products in its portfolio.

Xiaomi has said that every ‘Mi Store on Wheels’ will be open to customer feedback, and will even take requests for any specific product they have in mind for when the store returns back to their location. The company’s offline sales have suffered during the COVID-19-induced lockdowns, but with the launch of this new idea, it would be hoping to earn a good chunk back.

Mi India COO Muralikrishnan B has said, “With this new initiative and having the largest exclusive single brand retail network, we are determined to reach the remotest of areas in the country and address the needs of customers, bringing the Mi Store experience to their neighbourhood.” He has added that the moving stores will maintain social distancing and follow all necessary hygiene and safety practices.

Xiaomi has an event lined up this month. September 29 is when it will take place and you can expect the launch of the Mi Watch Color in it, apart from other things. This affordable smartwatch has all the essentials and comes with a circular dial. It was launched in China earlier this year at a starting price of 799 yuan, which translates to around Rs 8,600. Since then, the price has gone down to 599 yuan or Rs 6,500.
