Xbox Series X, Series S pre-orders in India start September 22

Xbox Series X And S

The Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s latest and greatest gaming console, and the Xbox Series S, a slightly less graphically capable version of it will be made available for pre-order from September 22 onwards. And just like in other major countries, the consoles will be released on November 10. While the Series X model will be priced at Rs 49,999, the Series S will be seen selling at Rs 34,990.

The Xbox Series X comes dressed in a black body and ships with an optical disc drive. As for the Series S, it has been granted a smaller white-colored body that does not feature a disc drive. While both the consoles feature the same CPU – a custom AMD 8-core Zen 2 model – the Series X grabs the top-of-the-line GPU, whereas the Series S goes for an underpowered model.

That means while the stronger console is rated for 4K gaming at 120fps framerates, the other one is good for 1440p gaming at 120fps. So those who still don’t own a 4K and are okay with downloading their games rather than buying physical copies can opt for the Series S then.

As for backward compatibility, Microsoft has confirmed that all Xbox One games except those that require the Kinect will be compatible with the new consoles. Not just that; the company has also made the machines capable of running select Xbox 360 and original Xbox games. This is a huge win for Microsoft against Sony, which has just confirmed that no PS1, PS2, or PS3 games will be playable on its new PS5.

Speaking about the Sony console, it will arrive in India nine days after the Xbox Series S and Series X, on November 19. The India specific prices and pre-order details are still not available.
