Windows Blue to be officially pushed forth later this year

Microsoft has finally confirmed that Windows Blue is a codename for an updated version of the W8 OS and it should be rolling out later this year. It is supposed to cater to the needs of people employing not just PCs but various other form factors, while simultaneously attempting to bring about fresher introductions.

The company’s Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Tami Reller, stated in an interview that the upcoming software should serve as an answer to all the feedbacks that have been flowing in ever since the launch of W8 and RT. In the meantime, she has also gone ahead and mentioned that they have managed to sell more than a 100 million licenses for the OS’ existent version 8.

Reller spoke of the platform breaching a 60 million sales benchmark in the month of January, which indicates that over the span of four months, it has managed to reach a 40 million benchmark only. This is relatively less as compared to the milestone crossed by W7 by the end of six months of its arrival.

What possibly could’ve enhanced the sale of the OS’ edition 7 was the fact that it replaced Vista which had been disregarded by various users. In terms of the latest software, it has been considered a tad complicated with its start screen touting live tiles and not to mention it has also stepped away from the tradition of parading a start button.

Reller was also questioned about the company’s digital store, to which she replied saying that the number of apps in the outlet have seen a boost that is 6 folds more than the available tools during the time of its launch. Comparing the app portal to the progress of Apple’s iTunes, she remarks that it has outdone the sum total of utilities that was offered by the latter in its first year of development.

Coming back to the topic at hand, even though Windows Blue may be out of reach as of now, its pre-release edition named Build 9364 can be downloaded through a couple of file sharing portals. In other news, Microsoft was recently seen transferring approximately 400,000 million active Hotmail accounts to Outlook.com, while at the same time it has also recorded 250 million SkyDrive users.
