WhatsApp suffers outage on major mobile platforms, restored again

WhatsApp suffered an outage on the major operating systems merely a day after it claimed that it handled a record number of messages. The instant messaging service was running extremely slow on iOS, Android as well as Windows Phone gadgets.

Reportedly, users experienced delays in sending as well as receiving messages today. The outage was exactly like the one that happened just after Facebook acquired it all those weeks ago. The app kept showing that it was trying to connect to the internet and ended up delaying messages.

These messages took a while to get sent, but most recipients complained that they did not get the messages for a very long time after that. As usual, people complained about the service on Twitter and turns out that the disruption occurred in various regions.

Moreover, the company revealed that it processed over 64 billion messages yesterday, that is on April Fool’s day. Prior to this, the most number of texts handled by WhatsApp in a single day was 50 billion.

While the outage disrupted services earlier today, WhatsApp has now been restored and there seem to be no glitches whatsoever, in either sending or receiving texts on the instant messenger. Did you experience it as well?
