WhatsApp now lets you mute annoying groups for a century

The WhatsApp for Android application has been updated yet again and this time, the messenger has been bestowed with some much needed features to ignore those annoying groups where people just don’t stop messaging. So far there was a limit to the time for which you could have ignored a certain group, but thanks to the new update, this limit has now been increased to up to a century.

Thus, it is now possible to mute messages from groups literally forever. And that definitely is not the only option. The smallest interval for which you can ignore groups in WhatsApp is 8 hours and the other choices are 12 hours, a day, a week, a month and a year. Basically, in the mute mode, your phone stops chiming for texts from a particular group and you can take a break from the constant pinging.

However, even if you mute a certain group, you still get notifications from them and WhatsApp has come to your rescue in case you wish to completely stop getting those as well. You only need to uncheck the ‘show notifications’ box to bid goodbye to all alerts from that group. A few other changes such as a new voice-message icon and a camera button for one-click access can be found in the new version as well.

The WhatsApp for Android app’s version 2.11.230 has not been made available from the Google Play store, but interested users can download it directly from the official website.
