WhatsApp gets GIF library and extended media sharing limit

Two much requested features have landed in WhatsApp thanks to the latest beta which has been released by its makers. While one of them allows you to share GIFs from within the app, the other one expands the limit of media files that can be shared in one go.

The new traits are available in the version 2.17.6 beta of WhatsApp. So far, users were only able to share GIFs that were downloaded from elsewhere, but this new update ensures that you don’t need to exit the app in order to do that.

On opening the emoji menu, a new section called GIFs appears to provide you with access to tons of moving images that you can share to spice up your conversations. Of course, this section also has its own search section to help you find the exact GIF you’re looking for.

These images are sourced from Giphy and Tenor. If you’re someone who uses the GBoard app however, you still won’t be able to use its native GIF menu on WhatsApp.

The number of images or videos you could share at once was earlier limited to 10, which meant you had to attach files again and again if you wanted to send more files. That has changed in the new beta, even as the limit of files you can attach at a time has been increased to 30.
