The iPhone seems to be one truly loved phone with an ever-increasing line-up of accessories, games and apps. Now, WD has announced the WD Photos photo viewer application for iPhone users.

The application can be used with the My Book World Edition and WD ShareSpace network drives that allow users to access up to 250,000 of their favorite images from anywhere. With this application in tow, users can log into their drive from anywhere in the world and also view their photo gallery. Moreover, WD ensures their photos safe and secure in their original high resolution format on the network drive.

WD Photos photo viewer app may help users avoid the costly and time consuming uploading sessions on the internet. Also, users do not need to sync only selected pictures to their iPhone. The application allows access to the entire album anytime, anywhere. With the superior powerful search tools and thumbnail previews, viewing pictures is quick and easy.

Dale Pistilli, vice president of marketing for WD’s branded products group remarked on the launch by saying that, “Home networks are becoming prevalent in many parts of the world, and WD’s My Book World Edition network drives are the easiest way to create one place for all your photos that is accessible to everyone from within the home, and securely from outside the home. With the WD Photos photo viewer app and a WD My Book World Edition network drive, users can access all of the photos from their collection via their iPhone without syncing, without extra organizing and without paying a fee. Photos are available instantly making it easy to relive those great memories or share them with friends.”

Users can copy images from the phone into the shared pictures folder on the My Book World Edition network drive. An innovative application that runs on the WD network drives creates optimized versions of the user’s photos automatically, thereby allowing the user to view the photos quickly on the iPhone without having to waste time while they load.

WD Photos photo viewer app lists other commendable features as well. Users can categorize their photos according to albums, folders and all images. For integrated search, users can use the search by date, folder name or file name option, and find the photo they are looking for. In addition, users can perform actions like mailing photos to friends and family, assigning photos to contacts, adding photos to the camera roll, etc. Photos can be viewed either as a slideshow or separately, and can also be viewed offline.

The app is up for grabs at the Apple iTunes App Store for free. To use this app, users need to register with WD’s free MioNet remote access service. The WD Photos photo viewer works fine with the iPhone, WD’s MyBook World Edition network drives and WD ShareSpace network storage systems.
