Vodafone’s offering Rs 2200 cashback on select Micromax phones

Vodafone India’s extending its partnership with Micromax to subsidize 4 more phones from the latter’s lineup. This time round, it’s offering cashbacks totaling Rs 2200.

To recap, Vodafone and Micromax announced that the latter’s Bharat 2 Ultra would be sold at an effective price of Rs 999 after a series of cashbacks. The same scheme is being repeated again for the Bharat 2 Plus, Bharat 3, Bharat 4, and Canvas 1.

To get started, new and current Vodafone subscribers will have to buy any one of the devices listed above. They’ll then have to make recharges of any denomination so long as it equals to at least Rs 150 every month for 3 years. Sticking to this for the first 18 months will grant them Rs 900 in cashback.

Continuing on for another 18 months will result in an additional Rs 1300 as cashback. It should be noted that the amount won’t be handed back in the form of physical money. Instead, it’ll be handed over in their M-Pesa wallet which can then be used to pay bills, recharge DTH and prepaid accounts, transfer cash to a phone number or bank account, and withdraw money.

After cutting out Rs 2200, the effective cost of the Bharat 2 Plus becomes Rs 1549. Similarly, the Bharat 3, Bharat 4, and Canvas 1 drop down to Rs 2299, Rs 2799, and 3799. None of these are as extreme as the Bharat 2 Ultra’s Rs 999 rate, of course, but it might appeal to people who want better specs than the phone can offer and don’t mind paying more for it.
