Vodafone Portugal intros Comverse visual voicemail service

Comverse Visual Voicemail Service Visual voicemail service by Comverse has been explored by several handset owners including Sony Ericsson. The service provider now claims that Vodafone Portugal is the country’s first operator to offer visual voicemail for the iPhone.

Vodafone Portugal initiated the Comverse Visual Voicemail service on the iPhone in March. With this service, users can view information about each voice message like its sender, time of call and duration in a message inbox on their handsets. They can then click and listen to messages in any order.

Pedro Duarte, Network Services Development Manager at Vodafone Portugal, stated, “This groundbreaking visual voicemail launch is part of Vodafone Portugal’s strategy of continuous innovation intended to develop and make available the best communications services to our customers. We believe it will play an important role in enhancing our customers’ experience with the iPhone 3G, supported by the high quality, capacity and speed of the Vodafone network.”

“This deployment with Vodafone Portugal is a significant step forward for visual voicemail in its progress towards becoming the next-generation voicemail standard around the world – a trend led by Comverse, which has more visual voicemail deployments than any other company,” quoted Dror Bin, President, Global Products and Operations at Comverse.

Users can also delete, forward and reply to any message. The Visual Voicemail is a component of the Comverse Voice HUB, a single platform for multiple voice-related services like next-generation voicemail, ringback tones and call completion.

With the Voice HUB’s unified platform, operators can reap cost savings, since it reuses major components and benefits from centralized operation, maintenance and provisioning.
