Videocon d2h launches Direct to Mobile TV app for iOS and Android

Videocon d2h has launched a new Direct to Mobile TV app for its subscribers, who can download it for both Android and iOS platforms. The tool allows users to watch television and video on demand anywhere for a monthly fee of Rs 60.

The DTH provider says the Direct to Mobile TV app will give access to over 70 live TV channels along with 3000 movies and videos available in the digital library of Videocon d2h. Content can be downloaded through all network operators, with adaptive bit rate streaming to adjust the quality according to the user’s internet speed. The offerings are a mix of sports, news, entertainment and movie channels.

Popular options such as Sony TV, Sony MAX, Sony Music, Sab TV and AajTak will be present, in addition to a wide variety of regional language channels. The Videocon app also comes with a program guide which displays schedules up to a week in advance, show reminders, a What’s Hot section to highlight top rated and newly added content, and social media integration with sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Videocon d2h aims to target this application towards people who travel constantly, such as students, working professionals and shoppers. Shows don’t have to be watched on a TV screen anymore due to the increasing popularity of smartphones. Mobile television apps have become an increasingly common feature offered DTH suppliers because of this.
