Verizon Wireless and Google have signed a pioneering agreement to offer innovative mobile applications, services and devices that leverage the Verizon Wireless network and open Android platform. With this agreement, both companies believe that their millions of consumers will experience a wide range of products incorporating the high-speed capability of 3G network and the dynamic flexibility of Android mobile platform.

With this leading-edge agreement, companies commit to give away considerable resources to gear up production of new innovations and offer unique applications to users.

“The nation’s best wireless broadband network is a perfect complement to the innovation of Android-powered services and devices. Together, we’ll work to deliver a compelling new experience to our customers,” said Lowell McAdam, chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless.

“The Android platform allows Verizon Wireless customers to experience faster and easier access to the web from any location,” said Eric Schmidt, chairman and chief executive officer for Google. “Through this partnership, we hope to deliver greater innovation in the mobile space to consumers across the U.S.”

Unitedly, Verizon Wireless and Google will develop Android based devices packaged with cutting-edge applications from both companies third party manufacturers. The lineup of Android phones from popular handset manufacturers will be available on the Verizon Wireless network.

This agreement will be finalized when Verizon Wireless releases Android-based handsets in coming weeks.
