Verizon to test LTE in Seattle and Boston

Verizon LTE Logo Recently, it was reported that Verizon Wireless is trying to launch its LTE 4G service in several markets in Q1 2010. Reportedly, Q1 2010 is the time when the Verizon iPhone and Apple Tablet are both rumored to be launched.

Now, PCMag has revealed that Verizon Wireless will start testing its Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G Network in Seattle and Boston sometime later this year. However, the company did not directly confirm or deny any news about whether it will offer the iPhone soon.

Verizon Wireless is planning on a commercial launch of LTE service in up to 30 markets in 2010. It aims to establish 100 points of presence (POPs) or Internet access points with its LTE network by the end of 2013.

Verizon Wireless is presenting its LTE 4G network as a supplement to its existing CDMA network and is said to eventually replace the CDMA network. It will offer average data speeds between 8-12 Mbps.

It was further stated that Verizon customers would be offered many striking devices soon. However, an iPhone was apparently not yet on the cards.
