Nokia users who have been biding their time for a software update may be seen smiling. For Nokia N900, the company has come up with Version 1.2 software upgrade with a range of enhancements to the already well-equipped Maemo5 mobile computer.

Firstly, new games are offered in Ovi Store such as Jurassic 3D Rollercoaster, Zen-bound, Angry Birds (level pack), Sygic, Kroll, Weatherbug, and GoGadget. Users can enjoy these games on the Ovi Store app.

Communications on Nokia N900 have also been improved to a large extent. The update brings in the feature for video calling which enables users to chat face-to-face. Facebook IM chat has also been included. Email facility has been upgraded with the ability to accept or decline an event right there in users’ inbox. Additionally, Ovi Maps on the phone has been updated with changes to the UI. Experience of finding a location has been advanced with a change in the menu system UI with the first level being customizable.

Moving to the MeeGo platform, Nokia’s blog reveals, “Although Nokia N900 devices are being used for platform development and testing purposes by those involved in the MeeGo project, Nokia doesn’t have plans for a full scale commercial MeeGo upgrade on the Nokia N900.”

This news may disappoint users but Nokia confirms supporting the core Maemo software on Nokia N900.

The PR Version 1.2 (V10.2010.19-1) update for Nokia N900 is now available on its official blog.
