Updated Nimbuzz application struts its stuff for Nokia Symbian phones

Nimbuzz 3.0.1 Nokia SymbianStaying connected with family and friends just got cheaper! Nimbuzz has come up with version 3.0.1 of its committed application for Nokia Symbian devices. It has been apparently designed to help users consume up to 70% less data. According to the official Nimbuzz blog, the app has become more bandwidth-efficient saving user’s data consumption substantially.

The new update is brought about by compressing the data packages using zlib encoding. Though it is aimed at reducing mobile data spending by 70%, users can expect to consume at least 50% less data when they use this app. The upgrade has also resulted in faster login speeds.

Amongst other things, the update now boasts of three new features. The app’s first feature is an invisible mode option, which enables users to appear invisible to their Nimbuzz contacts in case they don’t want to be disturbed. The second feature allows chats only with friends, thus curbing the possibility of getting bothered by people not on the users contact list. The third feature lets users update their status icons to Online, Away, Busy and Offline modes.

To activate the invisible mode option, users need to click on their profile which appears at the top of the contact list, and then click on their status (which is usually online) and select Invisible. To permit chats only from users’ contact list, they should go to options, then select settings, further click on the nimbuzz account option and select allow chats from contacts only option.

Nimbuzz in addition to Symbian, is also available across other platforms like the iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Java ME and many more. The update is now available for download.
