UC Browser has joined hands with Twitter and Microsoft Bing to launch a special UC Cricket portal within the app. The company is looking to take advantage of the popularity of the sport in India by providing users with live updates and news.
UC Cricket is basically meant as a one-stop platform for any cricket-related news. It’ll offer content like live tweets, images, commentaries, previews, predictions, scores, videos and stats. The launch of the mobile gateway is a timely one given the wave of cricket mania currently gripping India.
According to IANS (via NDTV), UC Browser thinks the new portal is the best way to engage with its Indian users during the cricket season. Kenny Ye, the general manager of Global Markets under Alibaba’s Mobile Business Group, goes as far as to say the app’s tie-up with Twitter and Microsoft Bing will reshape the digital cricket content landscape.
This is a tall claim and we’ll have to wait and see if UC Cricket will be as successful as UC Browser hopes it’ll be. Plenty of other apps offer enhanced cricket content. For instance, Hotstar is the official partner for the ICC World Twenty20 and is the only one with access to live broadcasts.

UC Cricket offers a few novel features like a floating widget dubbed UC Express. It lets users view customized cricket notifications and even allows them to subscribe to updates for a specific match. Twitter will feed in trending tweets from fans and players, in addition to providing Twitter-exclusive content from official cricket team accounts.
As for Bing, it’ll handle predictions for future games. The search tool was supposedly right 83% of the time for previous World Cup games. The feature will appear on UC Cricket starting from March 14. You can download the updated UC Browser via the Google Play Store.
