The newest arrival in the smartphone world is the U.S. Cellular Huawei Ascend II which released just recently. While the mobile device was launched way back in July this year, it is expected to be available on the company’s website next week and in stores by early January.

Powered by the Android 2.3 OS, this Huawei handset comes incorporated with Swype technology for facilitating faster text messaging and emailing. It is embedded with a 3.5-inch 320 x 480p TFT HVGA capacitive touchscreen and boasts of 512MB ROM. Featuring 256MB RAM, it offers 2GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via the microSD card slot.

Snap happy users can capture pictures and videos through the integrated 5MP rear facing camera which lets them record the names of places where the photos were snapped, with its geotagging option. It comes equipped with in-built GPS navigation technology besides an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and compass.

With measurements that read 117mm x 61mm x 13mm, this mid-level smartphone sports two mics for effective noise cancellation which enables clarity of sound. It is powered by a 600MHz CPU and delivers talk time and standby time of up to 3.5 hours and 300 hours, respectively.

The U.S. Cellular Huawei Ascend II will be free of cost after a $100 mail-in rebate and a new two year agreement. It can be purchased online at uscellular.com starting next week and from the company’s stores only by early January.
