Twitter Promoted Tweets and Accounts

After becoming a seamless part of the original website over the past entire year, Twitter Promoted Accounts are now being rolled out for the iPhone and Android apps of the SNS. This will soon be followed by Promoted Tweets, scheduled to be introduced as a significant element of the timeline.

Twitter Promoted Accounts are expected to emerge ahead of Promoted Tweets on the aforementioned smartphone compatible versions of this microblogging website. These accounts will be seen as a part of the ‘Who to Follow’ suggestions, a feature which informs users about account holders they might like to follow.

“With our most recent app updates, Promoted Accounts are now in Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android. And in the coming weeks, we’ll begin introducing Promoted Tweets in the timeline on these mobile apps. Initially, a small number of users may see Promoted Tweets near the top of their timelines from brands they already follow. This will help ensure that people see important Tweets from the brands they care about,” said a recent post on the official Twitter blog.

Promoted Tweets or advertisements which appear as a regular Twitter post, should also be made available gradually. The blog states that such ads are meant to be viewed as a component user timeline and will show up only once. Although users cannot opt out of such tweets, they can easily dismiss irrelevant ones with a single swipe.

Twitter Promoted Tweets and Accounts, which were already released a few months ago for the mobile web, are now scheduled to hit the Android and iPhone apps.
