Twitter Highlights now available on Android

Twitter has announced its new Highlights feature will be available to Android users around the globe in all 35 languages it supports currently. The service was released back in April this year, but was accessible only in English.

Twitter Highlights cuts through the hundreds of tweets sent out everyday and summarizes them for easy reading. It makes note of the posts most relevant to a particular person and puts them together in a neat package. The app decides the content based on various factors such as the people a user follows, the popular topics of the day, and events trending in their area or within their network.

Highlights works by sending users rich push notifications two times a day. When a person opens the message, they’ll go straight to the Twitter app. The new feature will be displayed as simple cards which can be swiped left or right. Once a user has finished viewing all of the summaries, they will be directed towards their home timeline.

Consumers don’t have to wait to get a notification to view their Highlights. They can be seen at any time by tapping on the overflow icon in the Twitter home screen. All Android 4.0 users and above are eligible to get the tool, as long as they have the most recent version of Twitter installed in their device.

Twitter Highlights will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks. Users can download the latest version of the app from the Google Play Store. The social networking site is only supporting Android devices for now and will consider bringing it to other platforms like iOS and desktops in the future.
