The Asus ZenFone series has proven to be quite successful in India with the company reportedly selling around 40000 handsets over a period of just 4 days. The smartphones were made available for purchase online exclusively through Flipkart with prices starting at Rs 5999.
Clearly, this number is nowhere near to what Motorola achieved through its Moto handsets, but it’s a pretty good start and hopefully sales won’t slowdown over time. The company notes that their handsets have been dispatched to over 300 cities. However, there’s no information on the individual sales figures, so it’s hard to tell whether all models have been successful or it’s just a couple that have caught buyers’ attention.
The Asus ZenFone series comprises of three attractive handsets which fall in 4-, 5- and 6-inch categories. The smallest option comes in two variants, one offering a 4-inch WVGA display, a 5MP camera and a 1600mAh battery, and the other packing an 8MP rear shooter as well as a 1750mAh cell. Both phones are covered with Gorilla Glass 3 and gain steam from a 1.2GHz dual core processor.
The smaller version has Android 4.3 Jelly Bean onboard, while the larger one features 4.4 KitKat. Coming to the 5 and 6-inch ZenFone handets, they have various common features such as dual core Intel Atom SOCs, 2GB RAM and HD displays. The former device also packs a 2110mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP snapper on the front.
