Timex Metropolitan+ analog smartwatch launched at Rs 9995

The Timex Metropolitan+ has been launched in India, with the company hoping the analog smartwatch will prove to be a game changer for the brand. The device marries the look of a regular watch with the fitness tracking abilities of a wearable.

Amazon India will be the exclusive retailer of the Timex Metropolitan+ for the first 2 months of its release, after which the device will be sold in offline stores across the country. The smartwatch is priced at Rs 9995 for both versions. One features a silver case with a leather strap and the other a black case with switchable black silicon and orange nylon straps.

Users of the Metropolitan+ can view fitness data such as the number of steps walked or distance travelled on the analog display of the watch. There are 3 dials to convey this information. The main one tells the time. The second tells them what mode they’re in namely Step, Distance, Bluetooth and Off. This can be configured using a mode adjustment button.

The third shows consumers how far along they’ve come to achieving their fitness goals from 0 to 100%. Timex has also equipped the wearable with a fourth hand which tells the exact number of steps walked or distance covered. For instance, if the hand is pointing at the number 4, this means the user has walked 4000 steps.

There’s also a Timex app to set goals, deliver additional information such as calories burned, measure sleep and keep track of all daily activity. The gadget connects with Android and iOS devices through Bluetooth. The company has additionally equipped it with specs like water resistance for up to 50m, an INDIGLO Night-Light feature and a battery life of 18 months in Sleep mode.

The Timex Metropolitan+ is being positioned as a viable alternative for people who want the benefits of a smartwatch while retaining the feel of a classic analog watch. It’ll face-off against the Titan Juxt which promises the same benefits and costs Rs 15995. Like we said above, you can buy the new wearable via Amazon India at Rs 9995.
