Listening to music on the handset is definitely picking up as users are always looking for a convenient way to entertain themselves when on the go. Now, for music buffs, Thumbplay has rolled out its cloud-based Thumbplay Music service for the iPhone OS 4.

Wrapping together the benefits of iOS 4, the app allows users to enjoy their music while executing other important functions. Users can now easily check their e-mail or surf the web as the service plays with a minimized screen in the background. Thumbplay Music has featured background play on Android and BlackBerry smartphones since its official release.

“Our number one objective is to deliver a great music experience for our customers. Background play is the top-requested feature among Thumbplay Music’s iPhone subscribers, and that demand has gone through the roof since the launch of the iPhone 4. We’re proud to continue to set the bar for cloud-based music services,” shared Evan Schwartz, CEO and Co-Founder of Thumbplay.

The new Thumbplay app features more than nine million tracks under license from all major labels and more than 35,000 independent labels, making it a next generation music service. The app offers unlimited, on-demand access to any artist or album which lets users choose from a wide array of songs. Users can also create their own playlist and enjoy the seamless experience. With its auto-sync feature, swapping music between smartphone and PC/Mac has just got easier.

Designed to generate customized recommendations from select songs, the new offering allows users to share their favorite music with friends on Facebook with a right click on any song from the Thumbplay Music’s desktop app. Searching songs is further eased with the ability to search by artist, song, album or genre and free previews of all songs. With a few clicks, the music app helps one recreate iTunes playlists and have them available on their mobile device.

Users can now try ‘three day free trial’ after which subscriptions will be available for $9.99 month.
