The company has introduced Brightkite layer for the newly launched Layar Reality Browser 2.0. The Brightkite layer brings a third dimension to its mobile social networking application for Android phones.

Earlier Brightkite offered its users with the facility to watch their friends anytime and connect to them in two dimensions in a customizable real-time stream and in a map view. But now, a wider range has come up with this application where the Brightkite application on the Layer Reality Browser, can allow users to enjoy a completely new experience.

They can now look at the world around them with the help of their mobile phone’s camera. This new application comprises of camera, compass and GPS all in a distinct combination. It also enables users to see friend’s posts, snaps, and locations bringing the actual appearance of a specific location.

“The Brighkite layar gives our users a futuristic way to view the world around them by adding a Brightkite-specific overlay to the view seen through their camera’s lens,” stated Jonathon Linner, CEO of Brightkite. “Brightkite is all about exploring the world around you and this application gives our users another way to do that.”

With the camera’s movements in different directions, the graphics are accustomed as a result of change in the lens movements. Such an experience allows the user see a friend’s Brightkite data revealed around them.
