Telephone Regulatory Authority of India reveals its progress report

Recently, the Telephone Regulatory Authority of India made a big announcement about its progress. The aim of the authority is to serve consumers as well as enhance the telecommunication services in India.

A progress report revealed by the Telephone Regulatory Authority of India states that a total of 15.26 million telephone Wireless and Wireline connections have been added in January 2009. This is a huge jump because in December 2008, 10.66 million connections were added.

As compared to December 2008 where total number of connections were 384.79 million, in the month of January this figure jumped to 400.05 million. The overall density of the connection is now 34.50% higher in comparison to December 2008 which was 33.23%.

In January 2009 a total of 15.41 million wireless subscribers were added. While a total 362.30 million wireless subscribers were added at the end of January, there was decrease in wireline subscribers. It decreased to 37.75 million in January 2009 as compared to 37.90 million in December 2008. Resulting in a drop of 0.15 million subscribers.
