Teen Patti developer Octro benefits from $15 million of funding from Sequoia Capital

You can start expecting new games from Teen Patti developer Octro, even as the company has been blessed with a huge amount of funding coming from none other than Sequoia Capital India. A whopping $15 million or Rs 90 crore is what the said investment company will be sending the way of the Delhi-based developer.

This funding is focused on what Octro can develop in the next four to five years. Although currently the company has a few extremely popular games out in the smartphone gaming arena, this was not the case from the beginning. It was started eight years ago, and was initially a mobile internet communications venture.

But now, it’s almost all about games. Teen Patti is one of the most popular gaming apps in India right now. Teen Patti is available for Android as well as Apple devices, and presents you with a simple way of squaring off against friends as well as strangers in real-time online multiplayer battles.

And that is not the only game Octro is currently developing and publishing; titles like Indian Rummy and Tambola are also proving to be quite big attractions on app stores. According to The Economic Times, its games are among the ten top apps in terms of revenue on both the Google Play store and the Apple App Store in India.

Sequoia Capital is known to have financed big companies like Google and WhatsApp in the past. There’s no doubt that Octro will be gunning towards making the most out of this $15 million funding it has just received, and this may even help it build games for a global audience.
